Students will begin to work more independently on projects. Weekly sketchbook assignments are also given.

Advanced Drawing Techniques

This class is for students who have completed the Level 1-2 Drawing Classes, and continues to develop the concepts introduced in those sessions. New techniques and mediums will be introduced, and a weekly sketchbook assignment will be given as homework!

Design & Composition

Good composition is essential to any work of art. Students who have progressed through Levels 1 and 2 will now gain a basic understanding of design and composition as they continue to explore various mediums and techniques to take their continuing drawing skills to the next level!

Figure Drawing

Students will gain basic understanding of human facial and body proportions, working mainly from photographs with pencil and charcoal.

Figure Painting

Students will learn color mixing techniques to add color to the skills learned in the Figure Drawing class. A variety of painting techniques will be explored to create lively, interesting faces and figures in their work.

Perspective in Drawing

Using a t-square and triangle, as well as shading and color techniques, students will learn techniques that create depth and a three dimensional look in two dimensional drawings and paintings.

Advanced Drawing and Multimedia Techniques

Students who have completed the Level 1-6 Drawing Classes, will continue to progress, learning new techniques and developing previously learned techniques. Weekly sketchbook assignment will be given as homework, and students will begin to work on individually tailored assignments.

Advanced Drawing: Get WAY More Out of Your Watercolors!

Watercolors are one of the most exciting mediums to work with. Although it takes some time to master them, the process should be fun, not painful! Advanced students will go a step further in the discovery and use of the wonderful medium of watercolors as we mix and mingle paint on the paper to get fresh, vibrant paintings.

Creative Journaling & Sketchbook Journals

Sketchbook journals can be used as a creative way to document a trip, a special occasion or any other important time in our lives. They can also be used as a creative diary in which personal feelings and reflections are expressed. This fun class will explore exercises and new techniques to inspire and stretch students as they create their own artist's journals, or daily written journals. We will make and bind a book in class to use for these exercises and projects. Some homework assignments will be given as well.

Printmaking!

In this fun class, students will explore the many, many ways to replicate their art and to combine print making processes with other media to create stunning art. We will experiment with household items to make prints, and will learn other techniques such as sun-prints, mono prints, paper marbling, image transfers, and a hand carved personal ‘chop’ (or signature stamp) and linoleum blocks (for older class).
